Pianist Margaret Halbig is in high demand in both the instrumental and vocal fields. She is currently Associate Chair and Voice Coach Managing Supervisor of Voice at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she frequently collaborates with faculty and student instrumentalists. During the summer, Margaret is a faculty voice coach at Taos Opera Institute in New Mexico and is also on faculty at the Vocal Academy at SFCM. An advocate of new and contemporary music, Margaret has been the pianist for Wild Rumpus, a San Francisco-based new music collective, since its inception and for Ensemble for These Times since 2020. She also frequently plays with Earplay, a group celebrating their 41st year of new chamber music in the Bay Area. Margaret earned her DMA from UC Santa Barbara under the tutelage of Robert Koenig and also holds performance degrees from the University of Missouri, Kansas City Conservatory and University of Evansville, Indiana.
