Bio
Alan Geier graduated from Pomona College in 1975 with a BA in American Studies – while there he accompanied the Glee Club and sang in a Barbershop Quartet, as well as being active in Chamber Music Ensembles and studying piano. He received his Masters Degree in Human Development as well as his Teaching Credential from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, Callifornia in 1978. For almost 40 years he worked as a full-time music teacher for Middle and Upper School students at Polytechnic School in Pasadena. For many years Alan was also the Piano Coach for the summer Adult Chamber Music Workshops at Humboldt State University (now Cal Poly Humboldt) in Northern California, and subsequently served for 18 years as Director of that Workshop. Since “retirement” from teaching in 2017, Alan has remained active as a freelance pianist throughout California, as a soloist in Southern California symphony performances, as as accompanist to choral groups such as the Donald Brinegar Singers, and as a performer in musical theater including the Lineage Performing Arts Center productions.
