Mr. Fisher’s career began with a decade in full-time string quartets, including the Orion and Miranda quartets and quartets of Principal Players in four symphonies. He studied viola in New York with Lillian Fuchs, who was mentor to his ensembles, along with members of the Cleveland, Juilliard and Budapest quartets and the Beaux Arts Trio. Mr. Fisher has taught chamber music at the Hong Kong Conservatory, Old Dominion University and Colorado College. For 25 years, he has coached at chamber music workshops around California, including CMNC, SoCal, Humboldt, Santa Barbara, Golden Gate, CalCap and Grand Pacific. He has played in and served as Director of Community Engagement for the Colorado, Virginia, Spokane and Richmond VA symphonies. For twelve summers, he had a Fellowship at the Aspen Festival and became Ass’t Director of StringsFest Steamboat. He has played in orchestras in Hong Kong, Vienna, Spain and Portugal and toured 3 continents with the Tchaikovsky Chamber Orchestra. He also organized and conducted chamber orchestras in Hong Kong, Colorado Springs and at Colorado College. He moved to Sacramento in 2012 to be proximate to all the workshops - and the players attending!
