The CMNC Newsgroup (formerly CMCNlist) is a free newsgroup service available to all CMNC members (both Basic and Supporting.) It’s a quick and easy way to post/receive news pertinent to the local chamber music community such as upcoming concerts, instruments for sale, and players seeking interested players. Subscribers typically receive a few email messages each week.
How to use CMNC Newsgroup
How to subscribe to CMNC Newsgroup
CMNC Members (Basic or Supporting): simply log in to your member account and scroll down to the bottom of your Member Panel for the CMNC Newsgroup checkbox. Click the checkbox and click Update/Submit. (If you’ve recently received an email with “CMNClist” or “CMNC Newsgroup” in the subject line, you are already subscribed!)
Non-members: The CMNC Newsgroup is only available to CMNC Members. You’re invited to join CMNC as a Basic Member (free), or as a Supporting Member (paid) which includes additional benefits. Once your member account is activated, follow the instructions above.
Note: The CMNC Newsgroup runs on Google Groups. You can subscribe to the newsgroup using any valid email address. It does not have to be a gmail address. However if you use a non-gmail address, you may be sent a separate invitation to join from Google and you will need to respond to that Google email in order to join the Newsgroup.

How to post a message to CMNC Newsgroup
Please note that CMNC Newsgroup messages are fully moderated to ensure their content is appropriate for our members. No messages regarding political, religious, or other non-musical topics will be allowed, and the poster may lose all newsgroup privileges.
Posting to the CMNC Newsgroup is easy. Just follow these steps:
- Email your message to XXXXX [BB: need new email address] If you wish to send your message to your personal contacts as well, please send it to them in a separate email.
- Your subject line should include:
- What you’re announcing (group name of performance, instrument for sale, player seeking other players, etc.)
- Location (city or county as appropriate) so readers understand where the concert etc. is taking place
- Date of performance, etc.
- Most important info first, i.e. CANCELLED if you’re cancelling an event
- Your message should include:
- Your full name so people know who’s sending the message
- The full address of any event you’re promoting
Frequency: To respect our members and not overload their inbox, we ask that you post your messages/announcements no more than twice in total, and no more than once a week.
How to reply to a post
The CMNC Newsgroup is not a discussion group, so any replies/questions should be sent only to the sender. Please do not “Reply All”!
How to unsubscribe from CMNC Newsgroup
You can unsubscribe at any time. Simply click on the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of each CMNC Newsgroup message, or send your request in an email to cmnclist+unsubscribe@googlegroups.com.
